PRIDE PROMOTES STRIFE
I don't believe there is one Christian out there that can say they haven't been
prideful at one time or another.
I looked up the word strife and this is what I found: bitter sometimes violent, con-
flict or descention. An act of contention fight or struggle. Exertion of conten-
tion for superiority.
Does that hit home for some of you?
It sure did make me think that God was pointing to me.
My husband and I both had previous marrrages that were pretty bad.
So as a result of that we stand nose to nose neither of us wanting to give an
inch.
If that isn't pride working in both of us I don't know what else you'd call it.
I do believe we both need to be on our knees asking for forgiveness and help to
get rid of it altogether.
When you do a job do you say look at what I've done?
If you do that is pride working in you.
God is in control and if you think you don't need Him because you did it on your
own you are in trouble.
When we see someone that has a nicer house, car, and so on your pride gets the
better of us.
James 4:2-3 says, "You lust and so not have. You fight and war. You do not
have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask
amiss, that you may spent it on pleasures."
They were praying for worldly things that wouldn't increase the Kingdom.
They should have been praying for Gods will for them.
God is not obligated to give us a yes answer to all of our prayers.
He knows what is good for us and what is not.
Would you give your child something with sharp edges on it to play with?
Of course you wouldn't.
When we prqy to increase our fleshly pleasures we are asking amiss.
James 4:4 says, "Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship
with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore want to be friends of
the world makes himself an enemy of God."
When we turn to the world for the pleasures for our flesh, for material things, or
we fuss and argue all the time we are allienating ourselves from God.
James 4:6 says, "But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: God resists the
proud, but gives grace to the humble."
Humble yourself before the Lord and let your Lord Jesus Christ help you to
continue to help you walk humbly all the days of your life.
My prayer is that who ever reads these words, that the Lord gave me, will look
into your hearts and search for any pride working in you. Then go to the Lord
and humble yourself before Him. Ask Him to help you to get rid of the pride
working in you.
God bless you and your family, may the Lord keep you close to Him.
PRAISE GOD THE FATHER, JESUS OUR SAVIOR, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT
THAT LIVES WITHIN ALL CHRISTIANS.
