WELCOME TO ROMANS
We will be studying the book of Romans until we have looked at every verse and
learn what God wants us to understand.
Romans 1:1 says; Paul, a bonservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle,
separated to the gospel of God
As I have shown in a previous lesson bondservants are slaves.
Paul was a willing bondservant to Christ because of the love he had for Jesus
Christ our Lord and Savior.
Are you a willing bondservant to God?
As Christians we all need to be seeking just that in our daily walk with the Lord.
Paul was not ashamed of God.
Even to those who persecuted him for his love of Christ.
The enemy couldn't stop Paul nor could man, and Paul died to self.
That is where we Christians need to be.
Dying to self is when our flesh no longer tells us what to do, for the flesh is weak.
The Holy Spirit will lead you to live for the Lord.
To be Gods bondservant willingly like Paul.
1 Timothy 1:11 says; according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which
was committed to my trust.
This verse has a very deep meaning.
The law is to show us as the sinful people that we are.
But through the Gospel of Christ and the good news of salvation it shows us just
how much we need God in our lives.
The end is coming soon and all will need God to get through the hard times
coming.
Acts 9:15 says; But the Lord said to him, "Go for he is a chosen vessel of Mine
to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.
This verse is when Jesus picked Paul as His own.
Many couldn't understand because Paul had sent many Christians to prison and
even killed some.
The problem with man is he can only see what is on the outside.
But God looks into our hearts.
What is in your heart is what God looks for in us to serve Him.
Acts 13:2 says; As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said,
"Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called
them"
When the verse says ministers to the Lord it means that the people have gone
out and did as God instructed them to do.
Prophets, teachers, their ministries to the church God counts that what we do is
to Him.
When we serve each other we are also serving the Lord.
When you see a need, pray and ask the Lord, and then fill the need that you
sought councel with the Lord.
Romans 1:2 says; which the promise before through His prophets in the Holy
Scriptures.
This verse is speaking about promises that were spoken in the Old Testament.
Paul claimed all of the promises for himself.
Pauls heart was for God.
The gospel of Christ was his life line so to speak.
The long suffuring Paul went through not once detered him from preaching the
Gospel of Christ.
Just think about the conditions Paul suffered in prison.
There was no bathroom, no bed, being chained to the wall, and little to no food
daily.
Paul praised the Lord, witnessed to prisoners, and guards and thanked God for
the opertunity to witness about the Gospel of Christ.
We are in the end of days and we are going to have to stand on the promises of
God.
We are going to have the the same mind set as Paul and in all things give thanks.
Do you know the promises that have been given to us?
It is all in the Word of God. and we need to get those promises into our hearts.
Acts 26:6 says; And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise
made by God to our fathers.
The hope of the promise, was the promise God had made to the forefathers in
Israel.
Paul was not being judged because of something he had done wrong.
Paul saw the hope for salvation when Jesus was put to death and was resurrected
from the dead.
What Paul was getting judged for was the Gospel of Christ.
Galatians 3:8 says; And the scriptures, foreseeing that God would justify the
Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abrahame beforehand, saying, In
you all the nations shall be blessed.
This verse tells of the promise that God made to Abraham for Abrahams faith he
had in God.
That the promise not only gave hope to the Israellites but all the nations, we all
need to stand firm in all of Gods promises.
Seek Gods promises in the entire Bible.
For God is the same today as yesterday and will be tomorrow.
All of Gods promises are for all the people.
From the beginning to the end of this world as we know it today.
Romans 1:3 says; concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord who was born of
the seed of David according to the flesh,
This verse is speaking of Jesus in His human part.
But at the same time He was Gods only begotten Son.
Because Mary was human Jesus had human DNA from Mary.
But there was no DNA on the Fathers side.
Mary was a decendent of David.
Galatians 4:4 says; But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth
His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
When this verse speaks of the fullness it means the time for Jesus to be born.
Born under the law means Christ was born under the subject of the Jewish laws.
It also identified Jesus as one of all the people who were subject under the law.
Romans 1:4 says; and declared to be the Son of God with power according to
the Spirit of holiness, by the ressurrection.
To declared means designated.
Jesus was not designated Son of God because of the ressurrection.
But rather it was proved that Jesus was the Son of God by the ressurrection.
Psalms 2:7 says; I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, You are
My Son, Today I have begotten You.
Because David was annointed by God all of his blood line when they were coron-
nated as kings they were all considered sons of God.
In the New Testament the Son of God, Jesus, was declared the truly Annointed
King.
Psalms 16:19 says; For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will you allow
Your Holy One to see corruption.
David is saying that God wouldn't forsake his soul.
That as God calls us His own we are the saints.
We as Christians are Gods children.
Our bodies are the temple for the Holy Spirit.
So as we are Gods children, the Holy Spirit resides in us makes us Holy.
Psalms 15:11 says; You will show me the pathe of life; In Your presence is full-
ness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forever more.
The path of life is what David refered to as the Lord showed him the way so that
his enemies could not kill him.
David is praising the Lord for He fills him with the Joy of the Lord.
As Christians we should all feel the joy of the Lord when we are in His presence.
At Your right hand is talking about Jesus.
Acts 9:20 says; Immediately he preached the Gospel of Christ in the
synagogues that He is the Son of God.
Paul got his sight back after he has been struck blind.
Paul went out as soon as he could see and went and preached the Gospel of
Christ.
Paul had a heart for the Lord and would not let anyone stop him from preaching
The Gospel of Christ.
Acts 13:33 says; God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised
up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalms. You are My Son, To-
day I have begotten You.
The first part of this verse talks about God ressurrecting Jesus from the dead.
We, Christians, are Gods children.
The last part of this verse is talking about Jesus ressurrection from the dead and
ascented to the heavens.
Jesus paid the price for the sins of the world.
By doing so all who know Jesus as their Lord and Savior we should consider our-
selves bondservants of the Lord.
Hebrews 9:14 says; how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the
eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience
from dead works to serve the living God?
The eternal Spirit is the Holy Spirit.
All 3 parts of the trinity are envolved in the cleansing of your conscience from the
ways of the world.
The dead works we did before Christ are the rituals of the Church.
Romans 1:5 says; Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for
obediants to the faith among all nations for His name.
Apostles are the chosen ones from God and they are to go out to all the nations
and teach the Gospel of Christ.
To tell all about the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Ephesians 3:8 says; To me, who am least of all the saints this grace was given,
that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.
Paul was a humble servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul was instructed to go to the Gentiles even though he was Jewish.
The Israelites didn't listen to Jesus.
When Paul turned to Jesus and the Gospel of Christ he lost all of the worldly
things he had and his standing in the community.
Acts 6:7 says; Then the word of God spread and the number of the disciples
multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedi-
ant to the faith.
What Jesus had done spread throughout the land.
The Word of God spread like wild fire.
The disciples increased and they went in bloldness and spoke of the Gospel of
Christ.
The church grew by leaps and bounds.
People didn't keep it to themselves, they told all that would listen.
The high priestly families didn't believe but the other priests were very humble and
devoted men of God, who were obediant.
The common priests believed in Christ Jesus more than they did in the rituals
that were being practiced in the temple.
Romans 1:6 says; among who you also are the called of Jesus Christ.
This verse is talking about the Gentiles.
Even though the Israelites are Gods chosen people God loves all who were born
on the earth.
We are all Gods children and we need to read the word and get it into our hearts.
To learn to walk in the ways of the Lord.
Romans 1:7 says; To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul had a heart for the Romans.
This was a greeting to them in one of his letters.
In the greeting also introduces the reason for the letter.
Grace is the salvation by faith.
Peace is the peace that God fills us with when we ask Jesus into our hearts.
1 Corinthians 1:2 says; To the church of God which is at Corinth to those who
are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place
call on the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours.
Sanctification means: the state of growing in divine grace as a result of Christian
commitment after baptism or conversion.
There is more to a greeting than one might think.
First Paul acknowledges himself as an appostel.
Apostels are called by the Lord therefore we are to respect all who have been
called for this position.
Pauls call is to the readers of the letter that they should be sanctified by the
Lord Jesus Christ.
They gather together and praise and worship the Lord Jesus Christ.
So they are indeed sanctified in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:24 says; but to those who are called, with Jews and Greeks,
Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
When they talked about the Jews and Greeks being called by God to serve Him,
God was calling all who loved the Lord with all their hearts.
Jesus is the only begotten Son of God and He has Gods power and wisdom.
Jesus is over all things in the heavens and the earth and under the earth.
1 Corinthians 1:3 says; "Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the
Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul is sending this letter as a blessing to the Corinthians.
Gods grace is how we are washed of all our sins by faith.
The peace that comes with Gods grace.
The hope for better days ahead.
Most important is the love that He fills our hearts with.
The scriptures I used in this lesson are: Romans 1:1-7, 1 Timothy 1:11, Acts
9:15, 1:32, 26:6, 9:20, 6:7, 13:33, Galatians 3:8,
4:4, Psalms 2:7,
16:10-11, Hebrews 9:14, Ephesians 3:8, 1 Corinthians 1:2, 1:24,
1:3.
My prayer is that who ever reads this lesson, the Lord gave me, will read all of
the scriptures and see what the Lord will reveal to you. That you have a bet-
ter understanding of these scriptures. That Gods words are going from your
minds to your hearts. That you will be encouraged to seek the Lords words
daily. That you will be encouraged to go out and seek the lost souls that do
not know our Lord Jesus Christ. That many will come out of the darkness into
the light for all to see the change in them.
God bless you and your family, may the Lord keep you close to Him.
PRAISE GOD OUR FATHER, JESUS OUR SAVIOR, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT
THAT LIVES WITHIN ALL CHRISTIANS.
