                              PAUL IN ROME

Paul had a heart for the Romans.

He desired to go to Rome and preach the Gospel of Christ.

But it seemed that everytime Paul headed for Rome he was detained or put in
     prison.

Romans 1:8 says;  First I thank my God. through Jesus Christ for you all, that
your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

Paul is encouraging the Romans by telling them about what he had heard.

Paul was truly blessed by their faithfulness.

It encouraged Paul that there were many that received the gospel of Christ.

Paul wanted the Romans to continue to seek the truth.

That they would tell others to increase the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 1:4 says;  I thank my God concerning you for the grace of God
which was given to you by Christ Jesus.

There was a lot of trouble in the church.

So Paul focus on the God and praised Him for what He was doing in the Corin-
     thians.

He praised God for Him eternal faithfulness.

When we focus on peoples faults pretty soon after discouragement takes over.

Romans 16:19 says;  For your obediants has become known to all.  Therefore I
am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple
     concerning evil.

Simple means:   1.  lacking in knowledge or expertise.
                         2.  Free from guile; innocent.

Paul was blessed because the Romans obediants was know far and wide.

When Paul said he was glad on their behalf he was relating that it blessed him
     but not only that.

Paul was talking about the blessings from God to them because of their obedi-
     ants.

Also that God would use the Romans in a mighty way because of their faithful-
     ness.

Then there was the worrying.

To be wise in what is good meaning don't be deceived by the evil one.

Paul wants the Romans to be simple when it come to evil things, that the
Romans would be innocent in evil things.

Romans 1:9 says;  For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the
Gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my
     prayers.

First Paul speaks of serving the Lord in the Gospel of Christ.

Paul did not let his flesh rule his life.

Instead Paul let the Spirit lead him in what was Gods will.

Paul preached the Gospel of Christ with zeal.

When Paul told the Romans that they were in his prayers always, he meant that
they were on his prayer list.

Paul and the saints and even Jesus knew they could not do the Fathers will with-
     out prayer.

They knew they couldn't even live without praying to the Father.

Romans 9:1 says;  I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also
bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit.

Paul had been preaching the Gospel of Christ.

I'm sure they were really questioning what Paul was saying.

Paul was saying too that the Holy Spirit was speaking through him.

It is the same way today.

When you witness about Jesus there will be some that just don't believe.

Acts 27:23 says;  For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I
     belong and whom I serve.

This verse is saying that when you are in a storm don't worry.

God does send angels to watch over those who serve Him.

I know that God even watches over us even when we are His enemy.

And yes angels do exsist.

They sometimes warn us about a danger ahead.

1 Thessalonians 3:10 says;  night and day praying exceedingly that we may see
your face and perfect what is lacking in your faith.

Paul wanted to go to the Thessalonians because of his love for them.

Paul wanted to complete the work that had been started in them.

Paul knew that above all your faith has to be right in order to know God.

Without faith there is no hope for salvation or a relationship with God.

There is always room for improvement in our faith.

Without a strong faith we will not be able to stand when persecution comes.

Romans 1:10 says;  Making requests if, by some means, now at last I may find a
way in the will of God to come to you.

Paul was saying in this verse that he wanted to come see them.

But it had to be in Gods will.

Paul went to the Lord in prayer for all things.

Sometimes he didn't understand but if he would be out of Gods will he didn't do it.

Paul would make his desire known and then wait on the Lord.

Romans 1:11 says;  For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual
gift, so that you may be established.

Establish means:  1.  to make firm or stable.
                           2.  To bring about effect.
                           3.  To set on a firm basis
                           4.  To put beyond doubt.

Paul  wasn't talking about giving them spiritual gifts.

What Paul was saying is that he would bless them with some of his gifts.

Paul had many gifts and used them to bless others.

Christians today should be doing the same thing.

If you are blessed with gifts use those gifts to bless others.

Romans 1:12 says;  that is , that I may be encouraged together with you by the
mutual faith both of you and me.

Paul is telling them that they must encourage each other being of the same faith.

Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior.

Which, makes us all part of the Body of Christ.

In order to be part of the Body of Christ we must work in unity.

That we will recognize our brothers and sisters in the Lord by their fruits.

When they talk about our fruits we are talking about the way we live our lives.

By the love we have for the Lord and our fellow mankind.

Titus 1:4 says;  To Titus, a true son in our common faith;  Grace, mercy, and
peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.

The common faith was Jesus Christ, Gods only begotten Son.

By grace, (Gods grace),  we are saved through faith, (which God gives us).

It is the blood of Jesus Christ that paid the price of all the sins of the world.

Romans 1:13 says;  Now I do not wnat you to be unaware, brethren, that I often
planned to come to you (but was hindered until now),  that I might have some
fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles.

Paul is telling the Romans that he had been trying to see them.

Many of the churches would worry when Paul didn't come when he said he
would some even got angry with Paul.

Paul got into so much trouble preaching the Gospel of Christ.

He would no sooner get out of one prison and end up in prison in the next town.

But that did't stop Paul from telling the people about Jesus.

Paul was saying that he had prayed to find the fruits of Christian brothers and
     sister in the Lord.

Paul had been preaching to the Gentiles along the way and they had a heart for
God and they lived in the ways of the Lord.

Paul was looking for the same thing in the Romans.

Romans 1:14 says;  I am a debtor both to the Gentiles and to barbarians, both to
     the wise and to unwise.

Paul knew he had been forgiven for his sins.

Paul had persecuted Christians, put them in prison and killed them.

Now Paul felt he owed a debt to the Lord for those he had persecuted.

So he preached to all.

It didn't matter what they did for a living.

It didn't matter if they were educated or not.

Paul felt that he owed it to mankind to give every man, woman, and child the
chance to become one of Gods children.

Romans 1:15 says;  So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the Gospel
to you who are in Rome also.

Pauls heart was full of Gods love, peace, joy, and hope that he could make a
     difference in the Romans.

He wanted to share with all who he preached to what God had given to him.

Paul wanted to make a difference in all of the lost souls.

The scriptures I used in this lesson are:  Romans 1:8-15,  16:19,  9:1,  15:29,
     Acts 27:23,  1 Corinthians 1:4,  1 Thessalonians 3:10,  Titus 1:4.

My prayer is that who ever reads this lesson, the Lord gave me, will read these
scriptures and seek more verses so the Lord can give you revolation on all
the scriptures you read.  That you are learning, through Pauls walk in the
Lord, how you should be living.  That you will strive to live as Paul did.  To get
out and seek the lost souls.  To make a difference in the kingdom of God.

God bless you and your family, may the Lord keep you close to Him.

PRAISE GOD OUR FATHER, JESUS OUR SAVIOR, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT
     THAT LIVES WITHIN ALL CHRISTIANS.
